Warsaw, February 11th - Today Wolves Summit, CEE’s largest technology conference, announced Julien Bek, Principal at Accel, and Mark Masters, Hopin’s VP of Finance, as key speakers at this year’s event.

Bek and Masters will be interviewed by Diana Florescu, Non-Executive Director of Wolves Summit to discuss the future of virtual events, as well as the outlook for investments in B2B trade events and in-person conferences.

Backed by Accel since it led the company’s seed round early last year, Hopin is now one of the fastest growing companies in the world. Bek will dive into the backstory of the company’s early investment. Mark will share some “behind the scenes” moments on how they managed to navigate through the pandemic, and scale the company to 190 employees and $2bn valuation.

A reflection of the growing interest in the startup ecosystem in CEE, Wolves Summit this year has drawn in investors, government officials, ambassadors and commissioners from all over Europe. Among their speakers are the current Her Majesty's Ambassador to Poland, Ms. Anna Clunes, Minister-Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the British Embassy in Warsaw, James Hughes, Global Sales Director, Deutsche Borse Venture Network, Oliver Mahr and Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, Michał Olszewski, among others.

Diana Florescu, Non-Executive Director at Wolves Summit adds:

We are especially excited to have such a diverse set of leaders across industries joining the agenda this year. Growing a startup ecosystem requires close collaboration between governments, investors, large corporations and startups. Now in its 6th year, Wolves Summit is providing the largest platform in the region for bringing all these entities together to network, launch new ideas and grow their business.

The strength of the Hopin platform lies in its focus on networking. As one of the first tech conferences to showcase Hopin’s new multi-stage functionality, the guests will have the opportunity to move seamlessly between stages and surf through 100+ different sessions.

Mark Masters, VP of Finance at Hopin comments

“Hybrid events are here to stay, and Wolves Summit is helping to pioneer this new world of opportunity and engagement. Virtual is an inextricable component to the future of the global events industry. In shifting to a hybrid model with Hopin, Wolves Summit can build a global, engaged community, while ensuring that live participants and virtual attendees have the same high-quality event experience."

Over 200 leading investors and corporate executives are expected to join in-person and online this year including

  • Olivia de La Rivière, Growth Equity Investor, Bpifrance

Investing in the Face of Crisis

Contrary to popular belief, the Chinese words for “crisis” and “opportunity” are, in fact, not the same. But as an anecdote, it has survived the test of time because it touches on something we all intuitively know to be true: that crisis begets change and change often represents an opportunity.
